Gimme’ that glow, please

(This post contains an adlink)

Oh Please someone tell me that the days of sunlight are actually just around the corner? I’m so tired of this darkness. My skin is transparent, lackluster and drier than a snakes leftover used and worn out skin. PLEASE I plead, show me just an itsy bitsy bit of sunshine m’kay?

Oh wait, since I live in Sweden I have another three months at least of cold and darkness. Of skin like a desert with not even a hallucination of water in sight.

Lucky there are good tricks and products around to help a girl out 🤪 Like this new mask!

One of my favorite brands when it comes to sheet masks is ACASIA skincare. There are two sheetmasks available already; LIFT ME UP sheet mask and START ME UP sheetmask. This coming april, ACASIA skincare are adding a third sheet mask to their line of products;

BRIGHTENING sheet mask

The brightening sheet mask is a single-use mask that will give your skin a boost of lustre and moisture. It’s full of vitamins C & E together with hyaluronic acid to give skin lustre, elasticity and a more even skin tone. Your skin will be left with less visible fine lines and with an improved moisture-balance and skin-barrier. The mask also has a section that wraps under you chin. The sheet itself is face-shaped with holes for the eyes, nose and mouth. The mask is suitable for all skintypes.

My skin right after removing the sheet mask. Moist, plumped and glowy.

So did I like it? Hell yes! I’m not surprised at all, as I already love and use the other two sheet masks from ACASIA SKINCARE. The lift me up is always a given for brides and perfect any time you need that Cinderella-Quick fix.

Will I buy it again? Well, pardon my French, but do bears poop in the woods? The answer is obviously yes yes yes! This will be a new favorite and I congratulate ACASIA SKINCARE for doing it again!

Each sheet mask is drenched with 23ml active serum and they cost 125SEK each.

The ACASICIA SKINCARE brand also has a cleanser, a 24h moisturizer and a cream-mask that can be used as a sleep mask aswell.

If you live in Sweden you are in luck as you can head on over to for instance to here (adlink)

If you don’t live here, find someone to send you them! It will be worth it for sure!

Dermalogica intensive moisture cleanser, first impression

At the Daisy Beauty expo this past weekend (which I wrote about here) Dermalogica was one of the skincare brands there to do mini-facials and to show their new products. One of latest additions to the range of products is the new cleanser for dry skin (YAY), intensive moisture cleanser.

I’ve always had skin more to the dry side, and especially this season in our Swedish climate. Cold air outside, dry and warm air inside. The constant change of heat and cold makes skin confused and as a result skin can feel tight and dry, two telltale signs of dehydrated skin.

The new Intensive moisture cleanser is a light, creamy cleanser that removes both makeup and impurities at the same time as it nourishes dry skin. It’s enhanced with BioReplenish Complex™, a lipid-enriched formula that helps minimize the damage of proteins and lipids that are vital to defend against dryness. The complex is combined with phytoactives from Coconut and Murumuru Seed Butter that help protect barrier lipids and preserve the skin’s natural resilience resulting in a smoother feel after cleansing. To add an extra refreshing feeling to the skin, Dermalogica have added invigorating extracts of Citrus, Palmarosa and Jasmine. The cleanser rinses away easily, leaving skin cleaner, softer and more luminous.

This is one of the products I tried straight away, as I was actually on the lookout for a new cleanser. The instruction says to apply on dampened skin, but eager as I was I slapped it straight onto dry skin which worked just fine. It has a soft scent to it which makes me happy as I hate when products have that artificial over-the-top perfumed smell.

My favorite routine when it comes to oil-cleansers or as in this case cream, is to massage it onto dry skin until it feels like it’s almost absorbed and then add a bit of warm water and massage it again.

Granted, I’ve only used it a couple of times so far, but my first impression is that I really like it! My skin feels clean, but without that stretchy feeling if you know what I mean? You know when your skin feels so dry it’s like it shrunk a size. Of course, I still have to do my moisturizing routine immediately as usual, but I di feel that the intensive moisture cleanser doesn’t strip my skin of its natural moisture.

I also like the bottle itself, as it comes in a handy pump dispenser which allows for easy portioning of product.

In Sweden, the new cleanser will be available in store one time during March. A bottle of 150ml will cost 425SEK and a bottle of 295ml 635SEK.

Daisy Beauty expo, 2019 edition

WOWZA!

The past two days have been, well ones to remember that’s for sure!

For the 5th year in a row, Daisy Beauty expo has taken place. So what is the expo? Well, it has it’s roots in DAISY BEAUTY and Daisy beauty magazine, or more correctly the people behind the Magazine, founders editor in chief Kicki Norman and her partner Sam Bergenstrahle.

Since the beauty-scene in Sweden is widely spread all over the country, but most open houses, press events and so on take place in Stockholm, Daisy beauty have put tougher this awesome expo to gather the beauty-community, brands, influencers, bloggers and journalists all at the same time for two days of lectures and the chance to meet and greet several brands at the same time.

DAY 1

So, the expo starts on a Friday with interesting lectures. This year was no exception although I had to leave after the first one for a job. (Don’t worry, I went back for the mingle later)

This years first lecture was editor in chief herself Kicki Norman that spoke about rules and regulations in Sweden regarding ”influencing”. That is i.e, how do I mark a post that is a collaboration with a brand? What counts as a collaboration? How do I expose myself to my readers, the importance of professionalism in different ways, and being my brand. Extremely interesting and a lot of good points I took with me.

Next up was Irène von Arronet, CEO for Nature Treats, that are the distributors of the brand Annemarie Börlind. About natural ingredients and sustainability. Sorry I missed this!

Philip Berkovitz, founder of the brand PHILIP B, spoke about the rejuvenating benefits of botanicals in haircare. Unfortunately I missed this as well, but I got the chance to talk to Philip during dinner in the evening, and I will be writing more about that in a separate post. Let me leave you with he is such a fascinating and interesting person!

Then the duo behind the Norwegian succes brand ELIXIR, founders Marianne Fjortoft and Kristine Borge told the story behind their cosmeceutical brand. (Missed out on this too)

Last but not least (yes, missed this too) was a lecture held by dietician and Dr in Medicine Gisela van der Ster about trends in food, healthy food and our eating in general. Does our relationship to food affect the way we look? I heard afterwards that this was extremely interesting so I do hope that I will have the opportunity to hear her speak at another occasion.

DAY 2

Day 2 is like a HUGE exhibition, fair, gathering of beauty-nerds and editors galore and brands within everything from skincare, haircare, styling-tools, hair-removal, makeup, nailcare, brow products and anything worthy of adding the tag beauty-product to it. The shorter description of the expo is heaven.

Persons in the community such as beauty-bloggers, beauty-journalists, beauty-vloggers and so on, have the opportunity to talk to so many different brands at one and the same occasion. From cosmeceutical brands, to ecological, to vegan, to mineral. Products suited from head to toe, to remove hair or to stimulate growth, from makeup to makeup remover, from leave-in products to ones you rinse out, from tightening to brightening, products that take You from Snow White pale to bronzed-up Goddess.

I did already use the word Heaven once right?

Among others Depend had a room full of balloons and cake,

where you could get your nails done, brows done and lashes applied. One could also mix ones own shade of nailpolish 💅😍

Sorry for dark pic, the above is the two shades I made!

As you can probably understand by now, there will be a whole lot more posts regarding my day at the expo and more about the brands I met and new products launching.

I will leave you with a few pictures and a promise that there will be much more to come 🥰

one of my fave sheetmask-brands ACASIA SKINCARE are launching their third sheetmask; brightening (orange)

A big shoutout to Sam Bergenstrahle who I know has worked his ass off (pardon my French) for several months to put this all together. Thank you also for great service at hotel Birger Jarl that was our venue on Friday and Strandvägen 7a where the expo took place on Saturday.

Happy birthday Depend mini-nailpolish

Whoop whoop! Depend mini-polish is turning 25 this year and the limited edition to celebrate the birthday is just to cute!

The shoot for this took place in June last year and it was such a fun day at work, as always with Depend.

Born and raised in Halmstad, the small-city nailpolish is now a globetrotter that travels all over the world to Europe, Asia, Africa

Each year 5 million bottles leave the factory in Halmstad and end up in over 50 countries! The hues and collections are constantly renewed to be u to date with current trends for each season. And considering the cost of one bottle, one can afford to have a color for each outfit 🙂

The Birthday collection has cool, soft pastels as its base, combined with glittery hues 12 different hues in total) for that bling.

And as if that wasn’t enough, there are 12 more colors, with 6 without shimmer and 6 in the same color-scale for an extra highlighted effect.

The mini-bottle has changed the way it looks through out the years, from a round and short bottle, to a square and slim one. Perhaps it’s like growing up from a chubby little baby to a tall young woman?

This collection will be well-used this spring, as there are so many cute combinations to give a go. Plus, every hue in this collection puts a smile on my face 😍

New in my kit from bareMinerals

The GEN NUDE blush has already been a fave for a while, as I have three of the hues in my kit already.

The COMPLEXION RESCUE DEFENSE became a new favorite instantly as it goes on smoothly and gives skin an almost airbrushed look and a perfect base for makeup application.

The new eyeshadow palettes look absolutely gorge and I am sure I will have to add them all to my professional kit after just swatching this one in copper

The new liquid highlighter barepro glow looks amazing, I mean come on? 😍

As you might know, (if not befor you know now) I have loved bareMinerals for almost 15 years, and I used to work as the education manager and makeup artist for bareMinerals in Sweden for several years. A job I absolutely loved just as much as I love the brand, but after 5 years I decided to quit and go back to freelancing (now 3 years ago)

That doesn’t mean I stopped loving the brand! I still use something bareMinerals EVERY day, and my freelance kit is full of it. I think what makes me love it so much, perhaps since I am also a skin therapist, is that every product is more than just makeup. Every product has at least one skincare benefit and it really is makeup good for your skin.

You can expect to read more about the brand and reviews of all the above within the neareat feature 😊🥰

Tutorial part 3, smoke & glitter

Don’t know how to do your makeup for tonights New Years festivities?

Here’s the third part of my christmas & new years tutorial in collaboration with Expressen hälsoliv.

Eye makeup goes even more smoky and is topped off with two sizes of glitter.

After adding a black matte eyeshadow to inner and outer corners of eyelid, leaving the centre of lid free to add glitter.

I used two sizes of glitter; The first, in small sparkles to light your lids up like fireworks, is in a warm golden from Anastasia Beverly hills in color star power

To make sure glitter stays in place, you need an adhesive.

This one from Anastasia Beverly hills is easy to use either with the built in brush or by tapping some on your lid with your finger. Most importantly, don’t apply too much, a little goes a long way.

As step 2, I used larger bits of glitter in unsymetrical pieces of gold to create a wide sparkling liner in outer corner of the eye. There’s plenty of different colors and shapes of both shimmer and glitter, this particular one is from my trip to the Professional beauty fair in Dublin a couple of months ago from the brand matte candy.

(Pic is not the best, sorry)

The finished look on my model Anna below.

Lashes are from Depend cosmetics in model Annica.

WELEDA – since 1921

Have you ever heard of the brand WELEDA?

Up until I became a momma (4.5 years ago) I had only just heard of the brand but never tried anything from it. Then I had a friend gift me a baby-product and I think that was the first time I realized I had been missing out on some fabulous products.

The CALENDULA shampoo and body wash for babies has been a favorite to use on my son ever since. It has a really soft and warm scent to it, and apart from Calendula (which is known for its repairing and soothing properties) it also contains almond oil to help prevent dryness.

There are more products in the Calendula series, among others a weather protection cream, that is for delicate skin made to protect skin against harsh weather. Unfortunately, my son doesn’t like this at all as he thinks it stinks.. I on the other hand like that fatty feeling and hearb-like smell so suits me fine.

There are plenty of products for both body and face, and I recently received some cream from the SKIN FOOD range. New addition to the line is the SKIN FOOD light. There is a rich and intensive cream for very dry and rough skin which has been around and popular since 1926(!), and now there is also a lighter version for ”just” dry skin. What I like about them both is that they are made to suit both face and body. I love to use the light version during the day, especially during winter, as my complexion gets so dry it’s hard to make foundation look good. But this cream brings immediate comfort to dry skin. It’s a silky lotion that combines organic sunflower oil with natural extracts of calendula, pansy and chamomile. It provides immediate moisture and also helps to support regeneration of the skins protective barrier, well needed this time of year! I use it on top of my daytime serums as a moisturizer before applying a primer. It absorbs fast and leaves skin feeling soft and with a smooth surface perfect for application of makeup.

The richer version has been an absolute skin-saver for me this season, as my hands tend to get so extremely dry they crack and sometimes even bleed. My profession has me washing and de-sanitizing hands more frequently than normal, combined with always forgetting my gloves thus leaving hands in a poor state. Not always to hot as hands are also in peoples face all the time! I love applying a thick layer of this rich cream on my hands before hitting the sack at night and just letting it work its magic as I sleep.

I am currently also using a 7 day treatment with a smoothing facial oil based on wild rose, but my review of that will come later on in January so stay tuned for more on that 😜
